Tim Heath, founder of gaming and blockchain investment firm Yolo Group, survived a violent abduction attempt outside his Tallinn apartment. The assailant—an Azerbaijani national with forged documents—posed as a painter before ambushing Heath, who severed the attacker's finger during the struggle. DNA evidence linked the perpetrator to a group that had surveilled Heath using GPS trackers and burner phones.

Investigators believe the plan involved holding Heath in a rented sauna to extort cryptocurrency. The case underscores a disturbing trend of physical attacks targeting high-net-worth individuals in the digital asset space. Heath has since invested €2.7 million in personal security and filed a €3.2 million civil claim.

This incident follows a global pattern of 'wrench attacks'—physical assaults aimed at coercing crypto transfers—as criminals increasingly target blockchain entrepreneurs. Security experts warn that public blockchain data makes wealth visible, while the irreversible nature of crypto transactions creates ideal conditions for extortion.
